The Impact of Chicken Manure Biochar on Antibiotic Resistance Genes in Chicken Manure Composting

چکیده

One way to increase yields in agriculture using organic alternative methods is the introduction of manure-based composts into soil. However, use such carries a risk soil contamination with antibiotic resistance genes (ARG) from gut and manure livestock. The heavy metals or antibiotics can this risk, while addition porous materials, as biochar, has potential decrease it. This study devoted revealing fate ARGs bedding chicken composted oxytetracycline (OTC), metals, biochar. It was revealed that additives did not affect physicochemical parameters compost. bacterial communities different composting mixtures had similar structures dynamics. shifts compositions were mainly determined by duration process. some minor differences OTU (operational taxonomic unit) levels observed between variants. biochar led 26.7% 34.5% decreases, respectively, number tet(A) gene copies, 43.7% increase. copies int1 increased 45.9% after oxytetracycline. correlation abundance ARG contents estimated, biochar’s impact on those OTUs analyzed. assumed might be carriers (such Natronobacillus, Luteimonas, Trichococcus), their presence decreased due competitive exclusion noncarriers Corynebacterium, Clostridia, Halorhodospira). considered reduce final ARGs.

Composting Unamended Chicken Manure

Normally, manures are composted with amendments. However, a large commercial egg producer in Ohio i s composting unamended chicken manure. Studies were done to characterize this composting, both in situ and in pilot-scale vessels. While overly wet material can hamper initial operation, the general progression dries the material and produces a granular output that is below 20 percent (wet basis)...

Biochar affected by composting with farmyard manure.

Biochar applications to soils can improve soil fertility by increasing the soil's cation exchange capacity (CEC) and nutrient retention. Because biochar amendment may occur with the applications of organic fertilizers, we tested to which extent composting with farmyard manure increases CEC and nutrient content of charcoal and gasification coke. Both types of biochar absorbed leachate generated ...

Effects of Copper Addition on Copper Resistance, Antibiotic Resistance Genes, and intl1 during Swine Manure Composting

Copper is one of the most abundant heavy metals present in swine manure. In this study, a laboratory-scale aerobic composting system was amended with Cu at three levels (0, 200, and 2000 mg kg-1, i.e., control, Cu200, and Cu2000 treatments, respectively) to determine its effect on the fate of copper resistance genes [copper resistance genes (CRGs): pcoA, cusA, copA, and tcrB], antibiotic resist...

Spatial nitrifications of microbial processes during composting of swine, cow and chicken manure

Composting is a widely-used method to recycle the nutrients in livestock manure for agriculture. The spatial stratifications of microbial processes inside the manure particle that determine organic and nitrogen transformation are virtually unclear. Here, we show the evolution of the interior microenvironment of swine, cow and chicken manure by using microelectrodes during forced-aeration compos...

Diverse Antibiotic Resistance Genes in Dairy Cow Manure

Application of manure from antibiotic-treated animals to crops facilitates the dissemination of antibiotic resistance determinants into the environment. However, our knowledge of the identity, diversity, and patterns of distribution of these antibiotic resistance determinants remains limited. We used a new combination of methods to examine the resistome of dairy cow manure, a common soil amendm...
